Korean Air and Asiana once carried every passenger flown by Korean airlines; low-cost carriers now hold a share rivalling both legacy airlines combined.
What this shows: The chart covers 2005 to 2025. It plots Korean Air, Asiana, Jeju Air, Jin Air and T’way Air on a vertical axis of Share of Korean airlines’ airport passengers (%). Latest values: Korean Air 25.8; Asiana 17.29; Jeju Air 13.35; Jin Air 12.68; T’way Air 12.12.
Conditions and method
Each airline’s count is its passengers on arrival and on departure at Korean airports. A domestic passenger is counted at both ends and an international passenger once, so an airline with more domestic flying weighs more here than in a count of journeys. The source does not split the two, so the size of that effect cannot be measured.
