Domestic flights still carry the largest share of passengers through Canadian airports, but a shrinking one. Other international routes have gained at its expense, while the United States share is about where it began.
What this shows: The chart covers 2008 to 2024. It plots Domestic, Canada-US Transborder and Other International on a vertical axis of Share of passengers (%). Latest values: Domestic 37.8; Canada-US Transborder 28; Other International 34.3. Data run through 2024.
Conditions and method
The table counts passengers enplaned plus deplaned, so domestic flights, recorded at both ends, are counted once; transborder and other international flights are recorded at the Canadian end only.
