Australia: domestic vs international air freight
Domestic freight is a gap from April 2004 to December 2009, when BITRE (Australia's transport statistics bureau) publishes no figure. BITRE describes its domestic freight before 2010 as incomplete, with scheduled all-cargo flights omitted.

Australia's international air freight has grown nearly fivefold since the mid-eighties. Domestic freight has fallen by more than two-fifths since the start of the twenty-tens.

What this shows: The chart covers 1985 Q1 to 2025 Q3. It plots Domestic (tonnes) and International (tonnes) on a vertical axis of Freight (tonnes). Latest values: Domestic (tonnes) 27,187; International (tonnes) 263,282.

Conditions and method

BITRE notes that two cargo airlines, Federal Express (on some routes) and Tasman Cargo Airlines, reported international freight by gross weight before January 2025, so freight from 2025 is not on quite the same basis as earlier years.
